Why do you speak such good English?

I am English.

Then why do you speak such good German?

I have lived in Germany since 1993, and before then I studied languages, including German.

What made you move to Germany?

My original plan was to spend some time in Russia, to improve my Russian. My family didn’t like the idea on the grounds that Russia, in their eyes, was a wild and dangerous place crawling with mafiosi and cholera germs, so, being British, I compromised and went halfway.

Ты говоришь по-русски?

Немножко. Я почти все зобыл.

Can you make a video about my city?

If it’s not too difficult for me to get to it, I might. Otherwise, because making videos is a hobby and I still have to work for a living, you’ll have to pay my expenses if you really want me to go. Generally, though, I have decided not to take requests. However, if you have a camera and a YouTube account, why not put together your own video and share it with me?

Can you please do a collab with me?

If you already have a script worked out, I’ll consider it. I’m afraid I can’t write your screenplays for you: if you don’t have any idea what you want to do, or what you want me to do, I will have to politely decline.

What camera do you use?

My camera of choice at the moment is a Panasonic HDC-SD707, which is at the high end of the amateur market and includes many features that are now rare on such cameras, but I consider vital for anyone serious about making good videos. I also have a Flip camera on standby. Previously, I had a JVC GR-D325E, which was a decent little camcorder for its time and served me well.

What video editing software do you use?

I use MAGIX Video deluxe, which is sold in other countries as MAGIX Movie Edit Pro.

What other software do you use?

Corel Draw and Corel Photo-Paint are what I use for graphics. If I need to do any serious sound editing, Audacity is a great piece of free software with some useful features.

Where do you get your ideas from?

I made a video about that.

What are your cats’ names?

The little black-and-white one is Bonnie, and with a certain inevitability, the black one is called Clyde.
